Mission Statement

Music Teachers of Central Iowa (MTCI) is a local, non-profit, professional organization affiliated with the Iowa Music Teachers Association (IMTA) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).

Our purpose is:

  • To improve music instruction

  • To cultivate a cooperative spirit among musicians

  • To promote musical culture in Iowa

  • To further professionalism in teaching

Pam Sibbel

President, Vice President, and Treasurer

Pam Sibbel is a private piano and guitar teacher in Ames, Iowa. She has served as President, Vice-President, and Treasurer of the Music Teachers of Central Iowa, Ames District IMTA Piano Auditions Chair, Ames IMTA Piano Festival Chair, and Festival Chair and Treasurer of the Iowa Music Teachers Association.

John Devlin

Secretary

John Devlin is a retired public school instrumental music teacher having taught piano in his Le Grand, IA studio for many years on Steinway “B” and Steinway “O-R” pianos. He moved to the Ames teachers after a Marshalltown group disbanded.

Nai-Ying Liao

Membership

A native of Taiwan, Nai-Ying Liao holds a Master degree in piano and viola performance, a piano pedagogy certificate from Indiana State University, and a Bachelor degree in viola performance from Temple University. In addition to teaching private lessons in Ames, Liao has performed as a violist with the Central Iowa Symphony, and accompanied extensively at ISU. She has been the accompanist for the Preparatory Choir and Chorale of Ames Children’s Choirs since Spring 2019.

The Music Teachers of Central Iowa (MTCI) is affiliated with the Iowa Music Teachers Association (IMTA), and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).

ASCAP licensing: All programs (printed or QR code access) need to include the following: “Affiliated with the Iowa Music Teachers Association & the Music Teachers National Association”

Liability Insurance: All local & state associations have liability insurance through MTNA for their events. Proof of insurance form if required by a venue:
